It’s hard to believe that it’s already almost April. I know people say this all the time, but the older you get, the quicker time goes. My blog is officially over 1 month old and I’m so grateful it’s been received so well by you wonderful people. You guys make this all the more enjoyable for me and I love each and every one of you!
Since I usually do tutorials or informative little posts about makeup, hair, and skincare, I wanted to deviate from the usual and try something else. I’ve seen a lot of other bloggers doing this so I figured why not? At the end of every month, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite things I’ve found. Some months it may be all about makeup, other months it may have absolutely nothing to do with makeup. The point is to simply share with you guys things I’ve fallen in love with. So, without further ado, check out my video and blog post to find out what my March 2014 Monthly Must-Haves are!
1. tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12 Hour Perfecting Primer
I’ve been on the hunt for a great primer for so long now. I’ve tried many and been disappointed each time. I’ve tried bareMinerals PrimeTime, Smashbox Photo Finish, Urban Decay brightening & tightening primer, Lorac POREfection mattifying primer, and so many more, but none of them did what I needed.
I’ve got some pretty deep “laugh lines” around my mouth and one really deep line across my forehead. I’m only 26, and short of putting a needle in my face, I was starting to lose hope until I found tarte’s Clean Slate Poreless 12 Hour Perfecting Primer. Whenever I wear foundation, it isn’t long before it just sinks right into my deep lines. No other primer has delivered on their promise of “filling fine lines and pores” quite like this primer. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks now, and so far, it’s still working flawlessly and I haven’t broken out once! (Something I can’t say for the other primers I’ve tried…)
Find it here: tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12 Hour Perfecting Primer, $30 at Sephora
2. LORAC POREfection Foundation
While the LORAC POREfection Mattifying Primer was a huge disappointment, this foundation makes up for it. In fact, this may be one of my favorite (if not my MOST favorite) foundation I’ve ever tried. I haven’t worn liquid foundation in the longest time because my go-to is bareMinerals original foundation. However, once I made the switch back to liquid foundation, I was amazed at how quickly and easily it goes on and blends. In fact, it takes much less time than my mineral foundation typically does.
To top it all off, this foundation is somehow hydrating without making my pores look giant and it hasn’t broken me out. As I mentioned, I tried it with the LORAC POREfection mattifying primer and I found that broke me out way too much. Luckily, I found the tarte primer and those two together seem to get the job done. If you’re curious, I wear PR2.

3. NuMe Hair Mask
This came in my February 2014 ipsy glam bag and last week, I finally got around to trying it. As soon as I did, my hair felt AMAZING. I let it air dry and it looked so much better than it ever has. I’m not exaggerating. This stuff is the best. If you know about my hair troubles, then you know I have to be careful about what I try.
The worst thing about this product? It’s sold out. Saaaaad! But it’s sold out for a damn reason… Everyone tried it and everyone loved it. I hope it comes back soon!
Find it here (whenever it comes back in stock): NuMe Hair Mask, $34.99
4. DreamEssentials Contoured Sleep Mask
I’ve been looking for a sleep mask that effectively blocks out most of the light without rubbing against my face. Since this mask is contoured to fit your face, it does a wonderful job at both. It doesn’t rub on my eyelashes, which was a huge problem with some of the other sleep masks I’ve tried. It’s also made out of a very light material so it doesn’t feel bulky and it’s easy to sleep with it on. It’s only $9.95 and at that price, I couldn’t say no to some extra hours of quality zzz’s.
Find it here: DreamEssentials Contoured Sleep Mask, $9.95 on Amazon.com
5. OPI Matte Top Coat
As I say in my video, I know I’m a little late to the party when it comes to this top coat, but I’m a creature of habit so it took me a bit before I gave it a try. It’s so much fun! You can create all different types of cool nail art. You can do one color and use a glossy top coat on half, and use the matte on the other to create some really cool textured nails.
Find it here: OPI Matte Top Coat, $7.96 on Amazon.com
